I’ll be a guest at RavenCon 2018…
That’s a phrase that kind of breaks my mind, considering that the guest of honor is none other than Chuck frickin’ Wendig, but I’ll take whatever small successes I can grasp.
After the resounding success of selling books at AwesomeCon 2018 and the delight of being a guest at ROFCON 2018, you’d think my brain would be used to the idea of my career as a writer finally starting to gain some shred of traction… but it’s going to take a few more years for me to get used to anyone else actually taking my writing seriously, or at least enjoying its goofy fun enough to give me a free pass to a convention.
SO… here’s my tentative schedule for RavenCon 2018. This is subject to change and I’ll update this post if I receive any new word.
6:00 – Writing Outside the Box
Panel discussion of writing characters who are outside of one’s own gender, ethnicity, age, etc.
7:00 – Opening Ceremony
I don’t know what this will entail, but presumably there will be robes, virgin blood, and mysterious chants.
10:00 – The Sequel
Panel discussion of avoiding pitfalls while writing subsequent books in a series.
12:00 – Literary Troubleshooting
Panel discussion of how to pull yourself back into writing after encountering difficulty with the plot, reviews, or real life.
2:00 – Reading
I’ll be sharing reading time with the ever-cheerful Michael Thompson. Be sure to check out his fantasy novel World of the Orb. Personally, I’ll probably bring down the room’s joy quotient by reading something from A Cold Day to Drown or Dyson’s Angel.
11:00 – Anachropulp!
Panel discussion of the changing face of genre fiction as genres merge and new “fun” forms of literature emerge.
If I’m not participating in a discussion, there’s a solid chance that you’ll be able to find me at my table in Authors Alley. Come by to chat about fiction, movies, or games… or to buy a few books.
